The fish collection

I'am looking at all different areas in my theme to create collections. Looking at tropical fish and the tropical sea to create ideas and using my visual research. I have used different techniques to create these paintings. Painting with textures and painting flat creating outlines off the fish. My next idea is to create the look of the sea water using deep colours to create the look and create the bottom of the ocean looking at the deep sea.

The flower collection

In this collection I have done it different to other pieces of work, by painting it in bright colours and painting in a graphic way and then applying outlines. But taking elements from my visual research to create a full scale composition. I think that if I expand my use of techniques and use of media to drawing and painting creating more sheets to add to the collection.

The bird collection

I have decided to create a collection off birds. I'm trying all sorts off techniques to build the collection applying layers of paint and mixing colours looking at using different media. I think that it is a good first attempt at painting the birds with adding the detail and painting them at different scales. But now I'm thinking of changing the technique and painting the birds flat instead of adding the texture look.

The beginning....

For my final I wanted to do something challenging. So I decided to do Tropical Paradise, drawing and painting flowers, birds, fish all from tropical islands.

At first I found it hard to draw and paint in such great detail as I like to draw and paint big bright bold images. But I started with the birds which at first I found hard but I then found other ways of painting by adding textures to the paper using the paint by applying layers and layers. And then going on to paintings flowers and fish applying textures with paint.

I think this is the start off something exciting, experimenting with techniques and seeing what the outcome is!

Hallmark 2012

My chosen theme for hallmark was kids rebels. I looked at what was out there for kids today, artists, graffiti, skate boarding, cites, pattern etc.

I wanted to create a collection and decided to create three- city scape, comic stripe and the pop art affect.

Creating my designs on photoshop changing scales, colours manipulating the images to create designs to be printed.

My ideas started to become cards, gift wrap, ceramic mugs, book marks, mouse mats, gift bags and cards.

British Craft Trade Fair 2012

For my theme I decided to do Chinese and African culture. I thought about combing the two cultures together to create a pattern. I then thought about what should the product be? A floor cushion! Having one side of the cushion whole with the two dragons mirroring each other and then inserting elements of African symbols in the background and then experimenting with photoshop filters, for the other side I did panels by creating individual panel with its own design playing with filters and colours.

It was a great turn out at the trade fair and a great experience for me! Looking at other designer/makers and seeing what's out there made me think about how I could produce products!
